We Are Just

Monday, July 2, 2012
Single cell specks catching light just to exist,
Insignificant particles, no love, nor lust.
Little bits of nothing with no power to resist,
Blinding simplification,
We are just dust.

Murky muddled mounds down at ground zero,
Smudging filthiness, no pain, nor hurt.
Earthy bits of nothing with no reason for a hero,
Mucky dregs of life,
We are just dirt.

Perennial pouting pitches with shoots of greenest green,
Bursting saplings,  no shouts, nor chants.
Leafy bits of nothing with no right to be obscene,
Reaching for the sky,
We are just plants

My metabolic mayhem with destruction ever present,
An effervescent bubble, no trouble, nor strife.
Fleshy bits of skin with a candle incandesce.
Twinkle like the stars,
We are just life.

Terrifyingly timid towers with powers of understanding,
A symbiotic gesture, no poke, nor prods.
Mindful bits of thought with responses so demanding,
Such powers to destroy,
We are just gods.
